[My grandmother buying fresh chicken from a passing merchant]

Today was simply an extension of yesterday.  I spent the morning walking around the neighborhood again, my grandmother was buying chicken from a passing merchant lady and would cut the chickens whichever way she requestd.  Some scraps would fall to the ground and the local alley cats would be right on it, eating a piece of foot there, a toe here, anything.  Was pretty cute though, the cats around here are alot skinnier though (well obviously).

Mostly stayed home except for the fact that my uncle took me to Bank Bali to get some money exchanged.  Oh man, can you believe that these people ONLY accept fresh crisp US currency? as in if there's any dirt, folded marks or scuff marks or any signs of it being old, they don't accept it.  Or if the currency's serial number is below a certain series.  that's crazy, that's one of the last things I expected from here.  So it was kind of a pain to get it all exchanged and I couldn't do it all at once either.  A little here a little there, and because some of my currency was 'dirty', I had to settle for a certain handling fee or something.  well whatever it's all done now but what an adventure in itself.

[My uncle picking fresh tropical fruit for later on tonight]

After the whole money thing and since we were already in the mall, my uncle decided to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things.  The selection of fruits and vegetables was completely different than what I'm used to.  Sure they have onions, potatoes and stuff  but the range of exotic fruits and veggies was definitely something to remember. Everything really fresh and mega cheap!

[Back in time for some more cooking lessons]

We got back in time to see some  more of my grandmother's cooking. It's so great that I get to see her cook, to even think that she might be better than my dad is just crazy because my dad is already the best cook I've ever encountered... my head was spinning just thinking about it, better not then.   I was hoping to be able to get some more time doing this today because tomorrow the whole family is going to show up and the house is going to be packed!  So now was a good time while everything is still fairly quiet.  Once again, I was really really hungry because I'm still fasting (only 3more days).

Around 4 o'clock my aunt Atty came over from Semerang with her family.  I didn't recognize them at first but as I continue to speak to them slowly I started to remember again.  It was nice to have those old memories surface again.  Later on in the evening Iman showed up with his wife for a surprise visit.  The house is starting to get full now.. tomorrow it's going to be 3 times as many people coming from all over Java!  That's going to be an adventure.  Some of them will be staying at Iman's place but a large chunk will still be here.  So tomorrow's update is going to be speedy if I have the chance to post anything at all.   More good times ahead indeed though.
